FORWARD Chapter Accreditation

Program Overview

Fraternities and sororities at UW-Madison are capable of amazing things.  Our members are dedicated students and leaders. We give back to the world, both locally in Madison and beyond.  We provide experiences to help our members to continue to develop into the best versions of themselves. These statements are true, however we’re not able to tell the full story as we don’t have a complete picture into the membership experiences within our community.  To further understand the membership experiences, we have designed this program to clarify our expectations and help our community continue to move forward.

The program is designed to gather information about the excellent work our community is doing.  The information gathered will be immensely valuable for a number of reasons. First, this will give our council leadership and staff that support the community important information to develop more intentional programs, workshops and opportunities to help each chapter continue to improve.  Second, this program will replace the previous All Greek Awards process and ensure all chapters are recognized for their hard work and dedication to providing a meaningful experience. Lastly, it is our hope that this program will provide a spark to help each member, chapter, and council continue to elevate themselves to new heights.

Program Process

Each semester, chapters will utilize the program to ensure they are meeting requirements to remain in good standing with their council and the university.  There are some items that require items to be submitted; chapters will receive a calendar of deadlines before the start of each semester in order to stay on track.  Chapter presidents can also utilize FSL Staff to check-in on their progress throughout the semester.

Overall, there are 11 categories, with one additional for chapters that operate chapter facilities.  Within some categories there are two types of ways to earn extra recognition for exceeding expectations.  Bonus points are small ways to recognize performance. Additional opportunities are intended to recognize chapters that are going well above and beyond the minimum requirements.

Upon completion, each chapter will be scored and receive recognition based on their chapter’s performance.  These will be shared and celebrated at a celebration where we will award chapters and individuals for their work.
